Re: (TV) Blue Oyster Cult (was 'Rock'sBack pages')

I still know little BOC music in its own right, SNL and
various Halloween compilations aside, but I've quietly decided that I
really shouldn't judge a band by its umlauts; that said, is there a
good place to start or am I destined to be horrified? Anyone?
Remember, if you know nothing else about me, you at least know: I
like Tom Verlaine's music.

Start with any of their first three records:

Blue Oyster Cult
Tyranny And Mutation
Secret Treaties

I love the first and third. The second one is good, it has "The Red And The Black", which fIREHOSE covered. The third has "Dominance And Submission" which has the line "Radios appear" and was the title of Radio Birdman's first record. "Career Of Evil" is always good for a laugh. "Astronomy" which was recently covered by Metallica. "Cagey Cretins", which, I've read, was inspired by The Ramones.
