Re: (TV) OT: Earliest memory of rock

I remember hearing Chuck Berry and Del Shannon as a little kid (that
keyboard solo in "Runaway" always nails me), and I remember the Beatles on
Ed Sullivan (who I thought were imitation Chuck Berry), but the first band
that really grabbed me was the Byrds.  The whole sound - the 12-string, the
harmonies - was what grabbed me.  I can still put that stuff on, and the
best of it - like the best of TV or anyone, for that matter - sounds like it
was recorded yesterday.
And before anyone gets in an uproar, I have come to appreciate the Beatles.
