Deb -

Not sure if you were replying to me here. I didn't use the term "lunkhead"; I
used "uninitiated." And the people who did use "lunkhead" weren't referring to
bands or performers; they were referring to people you try to describe a band
to
who just won't get it. So no one in the discussion would have equated hardcore
with lunkhead.

I'm not really familiar with Fugazi, so I can't say whether "hardcore" would
apply to them. From what you and Rex wrote, it sounds like describing them as
hardcore wouldn't suffice.

Oh, and could you clearly separate your replies from what you're replying to?
I
like reading what you write, but it's a nuisance to figure out where another
person's post ends and yours begins.

Jesse,

Oh sorry for not making my msgs easy to follow. I've never been on a mailing
list before so I'm having an adjustment period, I suppose.

Re: the term 'lunkhead', I believe it was Leo who first used it and it sounded
like he was referring to people who listened to 'hardcore' music. But maybe
he meant sthg else.

Well, since you're not familiar w/ Fugazi, they're well-known as a 'hardcore'
band...DC hardcore. But what me and Russ were referring to is that they have
changed over time and their later music would not really be considered in that
category. And many long-time fans of them considered it a 'sell-out' for
their more mellow ways. But it's just a process of them maturing and all.
Why would they make the same kind of music now that they're older and married
as they did in their younger days?

This wasn't my orig point but I think it got lost along the way...plus no one
prob cares about this but me.

D.
